Deidre Henneberry
Deidre Henneberry is a seasoned insurance professional with 14 years of industry experience, including 7 years in management roles. Currently serving as Team Manager for OB claims, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, a Higher Certificate in Short-Term Insurance, and is pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management. Recognized for her leadership, she received the esteemed Peer and Future Leader award from the IIG Class of 2023 program. Actively engaged in industry discussions, Deidre serves on the Claims Forum committee and upholds high standards of professionalism as an Associate on the Insurance Institute of South Africa. She is dedicated to contributing to the growth of the short-term insurance sector.

Marissa van der Westhuizen
Marissa is a General Liability and Coastal Regional Claims Manager at iTOO Special Risks.  She holds a BA Law (Cum Laude), an LLB, and an LLM: Commercial Law (Cum Laude) degree from the University of Johannesburg.  Having practiced as an attorney in the insurance litigation space at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr. She has gained valuable experience in defending liability claims and negotiation.

Obed Moroka
Obed is an experienced insurance management professional specializing in claims for the motor and property sectors. With a career spanning since 2006, he has held various roles at Hollard Insurance and Zurich Insurance, including Claims Manager for Property and Motor Claims. Currently serving as a Claims Team Manager at Customer Loyalty Consultants, Obed oversees claims for FNB Retail and Commercial insurance and ABSA HOC claims portfolio. He is a founding member of The Claims Forum, aiming to enhance training for insurance claims professionals. Obed's career showcases his continuous improvement mindset and expertise in claims and risk management. He holds certifications including RE05 and RE01 and has completed leadership courses from Henley Business School and University of Cape Town-GBS.

Christopher Appanah
Christopher is the Head of Claims Liabilities and Salvage at Bryte Insurance. He is an admitted attorney with a LLM in corporate law, cum laude. His focal points encompass insurance, leadership, and technology. Complementing his skills, he holds a certificate in management practice from Henley Business School, where he excelled with distinction. Christopher's commitment extends to talent development in the insurance field. Notably, he holds a certificate in coding with a focus on Python, and he is currently pursuing qualifications in machine learning and AI, showcasing his dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.

Matt Scorgie
Matt Scorgie is a distinguished disputes and insurance attorney with a proven track record in legal practice and the insurance space, where he excels as a Litigation Specialist at Bryte Insurance. With a foundation in law and politics from the University of The Witwatersrand, Matt has honed his skills in legal drafting, litigation, and strategic planning. His career milestones include managing complex litigation portfolios, offering expert legal advice, and successfully navigating high stakes claims across various sectors. Matt's goals revolve around furthering his expertise in the insurance industry, aiming to leverage his analytical prowess and detail-oriented approach for board-level strategic initiatives. His achievements reflect a commitment to excellence and a deep understanding of the legal and insurance landscapes, underpinned by a passion for continuous learning and professional growth.

Wayne Moorcroft
Wayne Moorcroft is the Partner and Broker Principle at Amicos Insurance Enterprises trading as Klippies Steenkamp Brokers, boasting an impressive 18-year journey in the insurance industry. With qualifications including RE and KI, along with a FETC in Short Term Insurance NQF L4, Wayne brings a wealth of expertise to his role. Notably, Wayne has earned recognition as a two-time Top 10 finalist on The Insurance Apprentice, showcasing his dedication and skill in the field. Beyond his professional pursuits, Wayne finds fulfillment in his family life, being happily married with two children. In his spare time, he enjoys indulging in hobbies such as reading, boxing, exercise, and online gaming.

JP Ellis
JP is the Head of Claims and Legal at EthiQal, specializing in medical malpractice insurance. He brings a decade of experience as an insurance defence attorney. JP’s wish is to make a positive impact by paying it forward through knowledge-sharing and mentoring. His other interests include traveling with his wife and children and participating in combat sports.
