About a thousand insurance professionals, executives and other key industry role players have signed up for the up-coming African Insurance Exchange Conference , says Thokozile Mahlangu, the chief executive of the Insurance Institute of South Africa.
The purpose of the Insurance Institute of South Africa is to build capacity within the insurance industry through insurance skills development and exposure into insurance as a profession, thereby mitigating skills shortage, improving opportunities for employment and social security thus making a sustainable contribution to the insurance industry and the economy, says Mahlangu.
The African Insurance Exchange Conference is set to take place at Sun City from the 29th July to the 1st of August 2018. The conference will discuss amongst other pressing matters, how to grow the industry in Africa given the current and anticipated political and economic context, says Mahlangu.
Mahlangu, the Institute's chief executive officer, says all the key players from around the world will participate in this conference in one form or another. "More than 25 countries will be represented from as far afield as Germany, United Kingdom, United States of America, Somalia, South Georgia, Switzerland, Nigeria to South Africa's neighbouring states such as Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe."
The conference is organized by the Insurance Institute of South Africa in partnership with the Financial Intermediaries Association (FIA) and the South African Insurance Association (SAIA).
Delegates will come from the breadth and depth of the insurance industry, including leaders in insurance, reinsurance, insurance broking, risk management, insurance regulatory bodies, insurance skills development and service providers to the industry.
