A Licentiate is a practicing professional who is capable of identifying client 's needs through a comprehensive risk analysis process and, with a general view, is capable of developing a risk management plan that will assist the client to mitigate, avoid or manage the identified insurance risks.
Academic
Insurance qualification at NQF Level 5 that has been approved by IISA or to be verified by IISA. The qualification must have the following subjects/modules which are mandatory knowledge areas for this designation:
- Risk Management
- Insurance Law for short term
- Personal Insurance Practice
- Commercial Insurance Practice
And two of the knowledge areas stated below:
- Transportation
- Specialist Insurance (Aviation, Marine, Construction and Engineering)
- Claims Management
- Motor Insurance
The following knowledge areas apply to the long term insurance stream:
- Risk Management
- Insurance Law for long term
- Life Underwriting
- Life Claims
- Health Insurance
- Business Life Insurance
And two of the knowledge areas stated below:
- Transportation
- Specialist Insurance (Aviation, Marine, Construction and Engineering)
- Claims Management
- Motor Insurance
Insurance Industry Experience
The individual must have practised within the insurance industry or financial services in the SADC region for at least one-year post obtaining their insurance qualification.
