As the annual CPD (Continuous Professional Development) cycle deadline draws closer, we would like to share our thoughts on the value of continued learning in the workplace, how to get more out of the learning process and optimising your IISA (Insurance Institute of South Africa) membership.
While the immediate benefit lies in gaining relevant knowledge linked to your area of expertise and satisfying your compliance requirements, there are wider benefits that extend beyond the individual.
Continuous learning provides organisations with the assurance that their workforce is knowledgeable about relevant shifts in the market and can adjust the way in which they approach work, as these developments take place.
An individual that has taken the time to reach a specific certification and continues to commit time to ensure that they are up to date with the latest developments impacting their profession and therefore their clients, sends a strong signal of trust to existing and potential clients.
Updating your skills and learning about developments in your profession also assists in identifying consumer trends, industry innovations and competitor strategies, enabling you to lead the pack in your chosen industry or profession.
As the custodian of CPD in the insurance industry, the IISA provides many ways to fulfill annual CPD requirements, from regular online seminars, through to our standout African Insurance Exchange (AIE) conference held annually at Sun city.
PS: If you have not already registered to attend, click the link to book your spot as space is limited! X number of CPD hours are up for grabs.
While many aspects of life are rapidly evolving, some elements remain the same. By way of example, the IISA has continued to adapt to ensure that it not only adds value to the wider insurance industry but continues to innovate and bring consistent value to its members.
The need to continually innovate is an imperative in the landscape that we operate in. Our core mandate to promote professional development, and the advancement of knowledge and skills, while maintaining the highest level of standards and ethics, remains unchanged.
