Donald has worked in the South African insurance industry for over 32 years. He has depth and experience in an array of fields in the industry. He has handled numerous complex advice and coverage matters, and subrogated recoveries. He is an expert in insurance coverage and reinsurance queries and disputes.

Donald features on insurance industry international platforms and is regularly published in various fora. He regularly speaks on insurance law and related issues at seminars.

Donald is a renowned insurance industry player that has earned some impressive accolades in the law fraternity. He has been listed for 15 years in a row in the Best Lawyers for insurance and litigation. He also appears in the 2022 edition.

Donald is a regular blogger on insurance law issues in the Financial Institutions' Legal Snapshot and has devised and implemented the Big Red Book Series - Volume 1 to Volume 6.

He has championed many of Norton Rose Fulbright's insurance practices' industry notable events.  He currently is a Director at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa. He has for many years offered bespoke training for industry role players and continues to do so to date.

Donald has a rich employment history ranging from various leadership positions at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa Inc. where he was CEO, Natmed Group where he was the Group CEO and as a trustee of the Golden Windows Trust, a charitable trust for those suffering from Down Syndrome.

Donald is an attorney of the High Court of South Africa admitted to practice in Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. He has a Bachelor of Arts, a LLB, and a Higher Diploma in Company Law, which he obtained from the University of Witwatersrand. He also has a certificate in Medicine and Law from UNISA/University of Pretoria.

Donald, a member of the Law Society, has acted as a Commissioner of the Small Court in Hillbrow for over 20 years.

He is passionate about strengthening and growing insurance industry education and training.
