Introduction and Background:

  • Can you briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your academic background?
    My name is Mudzuli Ndou, and I am a Bachelor of Administration graduate, I am punctual, dependable and I can be counted to finish what started.
  • How did you first become interested in interning with IISA?
    Immediately when I first saw the internship being advertised, I researched about the company and become more interested.

Internship Role and Responsibilities:

  • What specific role or position are you undertaking during your internship at IISA?
    My role is in Professional development where I am an Examination administrator intern for Botswana Accountancy (College BAC) and CPD admin intern.
  • Can you outline the main responsibilities and tasks that are part of your internship?
    Well since I am in an administration space I update question bank, Making Notification Result and Capturing Examination Results for BAC. In CPD I approve CPD hours for the IISA members as well as make requisition debit forms

Key Projects and Achievements:

  • Could you highlight one or two key projects you working on?
    Working on membership reports, I also updated members employment status and Multitasking and being able to do a work in time before due date is one of the achievements that IISA.
  • What are some notable achievements or milestones you reached during your time at IISA?
    Championing the Certificate in Digital Insurance Programme

Learning and Development:

  • In what ways is the internship contributing to your professional development and skill set?
    Firstly, it boosted my resume and I have gained experience in the career that I have chosen, it also builds my confidence, and it exposed the theoretical knowledge into the real world.
  • Are there any new skills or knowledge areas you acquired that you found particularly valuable?
    Most definitely, every day I learn new skills as I am surrounded by people who always come up with profound ideas.

Collaboration and Team Dynamics:

  • How would you describe the team dynamic at IISA?
    Its psychological safety, optimistic thinkers, conflict resolution and everyone feels at ease to share their ideas.
  • Can you share an experience that exemplifies collaboration within your team?
    There is a Collections Project, and all the different departments work together in ensuring the members pay their outstanding membership fee.

Challenges Faced:

  • Are there any significant challenges that you are encountering during your internship, and how are you overcoming them?
    The first time entering a new professional setting with unfamiliar faces, processes and expectations and I had to overcome it by being open minded, proactive, and willing to learn.
  • What are you finding most challenging and how is it contributing to your growth?
    Being exposed to multitasking and really contributed to my growth as now I know how to multitask and submit my work in time.

    IISA has a strong company culture and it encouraged me to contribute my ideas, offer feedback and improve processes.

    Everyone in the team became my mentor because I looked up to them.

    Every moment at IISA is enjoyable honest, it's a safe space and good working environment.

    Year End Function. Our CEO cooked a delicious meal for the team and we all got to engage and have fun

    It helped me to look at the bigger picture: what to take and what not to take when it comes choosing the career path, however it also boosted my resume as I gained more knowledge and skills.

    I would encourage them to go for it as it will give them more opportunities and expose them to the professional development world.
